Teaching Philosophy:
Collaborative Problem Solving by Connecting Experiences Within the classroom, the teacher acts as a guide for students. The teacher creates a collaborative and encouraging learning environment where all learners are free to share and connect their experiences as they work to make sense of the world around them while learning critical thinking skills
Education, to me, is the process in which one is taught how to translate their experiences while working with others and navigating together to find their understanding of the world. School is a safe environment for people to learn, grow and explore the world. If the student does not perceive of the class as an environment where their needs are fought for and taken care of, the student will not put any effort into inputting into the learning. Teachers must establish a space that encourages learning and taking chances, in addition to one where the student's physical needs are met. This will create a place to gain experiences and hear others' while being given the tools to critically look at all perspectives presented. School provides structure in chaos and help to guide curiosity and inquiry. Through its curriculum, school opens up the gates to make new experiences happen, but also an arena in which prior experiences can be let loose and studied. |
Classroom Management
Hands on Understanding of Action and Reaction My approach to classroom management stems from a focus on the principal of action and reaction within the class community. Some term "reaction" as "consequence", but I believe that even with a "positive" in front of it, the connotation still remains negative and instills a since of punishment.
By turning to action and reaction, it keeps the focus on student choice being a primary source of the classroom's environment while also keeping a steady principal that can be witnessed throughout society and the natural world. In this way, the running of the classroom does not become arbitrary rules enforced by an authoritarian, but rather may be seen as the logical function in order to keep the classroom pleasant environment people wish to be in through student actions and the following reactions. |
