During my Internship Year as I worked on both my certification and MAT, I worked on a small action research project based on what I noticed in my placement. I spent the following months reading and putting into action strategies I had researched to answer: How does incorporating non-academic based positive interactions with students affect student behavior?
Not only did these strategies work to minimize disruptive behavior for a handful of students, but efforts on creating a Lunch club where I made time to catch up with regular students led to quieter students taking initiative in class and lower students gaining confidence in asking for help when they didn't understand a concept.
